The-Room-Poster-1

As many are aware The Room is considered the best worst movie ever made. It’s a complete train wreck from start to finish. It’s a small film that many people have never heard of that somehow has gained a cult following over the years. The script, dialogue, acting, and just about everything else was terrible. I had to force myself to watch this movie because I really wanted to see James Franco’s The Disaster Artist.

The film surrounds Johnny (Tommy Wiseau) who is a happily engaged man to his fiancee Lisa (Juliette Danielle), but Lisa is unhappy with Johnny and starts having an affair with his best friend, Mark (Greg Sestero). They keep their affair secret from Johnny, but once he eventually finds out his world is turned upside down.

This film takes itself way too seriously. And because of all the terribleness of the movie, it’s easy to laugh at and almost becomes a comedy (I know many will say/think it is a comedy but I couldn’t get there). There are some outright funny moments of this film. But it’s a bad movie – end of discussion. You have no business watching this movie unless you want to watch The Disaster Artist or you and friends just want to make fun of a film. I cannot stress how terrible the story, dialogue, green screen, and acting is.

Tommy Wiseau along with playing the main character, wrote, directed, and somehow got a $6 million dollar budget for this movie. And despite how terrible his movie is, I must applaud him for trying. Making movies is hard work and it is admirable that he was able to get his film off the ground without the help of a studio.

But this film is still terrible. I kind of want to forget that I watched it. I give it an F.
