The Hateful Eight is somewhat ironically the eighth film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, and Walton Goggins (among many others) in a murder mystery type film which mostly takes place in a cabin in a middle of a blizzard.

If you are a fan of Tarantino then you will surely like this film. I don’t think it’s his best, but it’s riveting especially once everyone is gathered in the cabin. It checkmarks everything a Taratino movie has – snappy dialogue, action and blood, unique characters, and suspense and intensity.

The characters in the film are all distinct, they all have different personalities and motives, which really sucks the viewer into the narrative. This is by far my favorite part of the film.

The score for this film is also beautiful. I’ve never really talked about score in my reviews so far, mainly because the films I’ve reviewed haven’t had noticeable ones. But this is one of the best scores that I have ever heard.

For negatives, I will say that the film is a bit long and takes a little while to get going. Like I mentioned before, I feel like I was invested in the film once everyone was stuck in the cabin.

I know Taratino is under scrutiny right now due to the footage that Uma Thurman released of her getting in a car accident for a stunt that he encouraged her to due which made her feel unsafe on the set of Kill Bill. But with him apologizing and Thurman defending him, he’s not on my “do not support” list. Though I do encourage him to be better and more respectful with his actors and actresses.

The Hateful Eight can be found on Netflix. I give it an A-
