The summer movie season is officially over. And it turned out to be a pretty great season this year especially for indie movies. This list was hard for me to rank and there’s still a good number of movies I didn’t get to see like Jurassic World 2, The Meg, Hereditary, etc. so these are my favorite summer movies from this year that I have seen since writing this post. Anyways here’s my list:

Honorary Mentions: BlacKkKlansman and Three Identical Strangers

These films are definitely worth seeing, but are ones that didn’t really “highlight” my summer. BlacKkKlansman is an important political movie to see and Three Identical Strangers is a shocking documentary.

5. Avengers: Infinity War

As someone who has been following the MCU, Infinity War was truly a movie experience like no other. Ten years of movies that lead up to this and it paid off.

4. Sorry to Bother You

Sorry to Bother You was a big standout for originality alone. I’ve never seen a film quite like this. It may have not landed 100% with me, but it’s a movie I won’t forget.

3. Eighth Grade

Eighth Grade is a simple story, but one everyone can relate to in some sort of way. Takes you back to your awkward middle school days. Can’t wait to see more of Elsie Fisher.

2. Mission Impossible: Fallout

Probably the best Mission Impossible film in the franchise. The action is jaw dropping and worth the price of admission alone. Best blockbuster of this summer season.

1. Won’t You Be My Neighbor

This film is something everyone needs to see. Mr. Rogers was just full of love and positivity that was infectious. I’m glad that so many people got to feel that from him. This film highlights the impact he made on those around him and his struggles.
