The end of the summer is upon us and I just wanted to take a second to share with you all my most anticipated fall movies for the end of the year. The Fall movie season is definitely my favorite movie season. So let’s dive in.
1. It: Chapter 2 – September 4, 2019
From the trailers, It: Chapter 2 seems to be a film as good as its predecessor. I love the adult stars of the Losers and am interested to see the return of Pennywise.
2. Joker – October 4, 2019
Joaquin Pheonix is an incredible actor and this film looks dark and real. The origin of the Joker will be revealed and this film does not fit into any Batman universe. It’s its own thing, which I’m very excited about.
3. The Lighthouse – October 18, 2019
I’m a big fan of The Witch so I’m excited to see what this film entails. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dofoe also seem to be bringing their A-game from the trailer.
4. Jojo Rabbit – October 18, 2019
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Taika Waititi. I will watch anything he directs and Jojo Rabbit looks promising on the laughs. We don’t get much satires nowadays so this film may be a standout.
5. Doctor Sleep – November 8, 2019
I’m very interested in this film which is a sequel to The Shining. The trailer actually got me to read the novel, but I’m curious since how this film incorporates the events from The Shining movie which is notoriously different in the books.
6. Knives Out – November 27, 2019
We don’t get many whodunit movies anymore so I’m curious to see what this one will entail. The all-star cast also has me very excited.
7. Queen and Slim – November 27, 2019
I’m a fan of Daniel Kaluuya and the writer of this film, Lena Waithe, from Masters of None. This film seems to be gritty and I’m looking forward to what a black Bonnie and Clyde story entails.
8. Jumanji: the Next Level – December 13, 2019
The trailer alone is a big selling point to me. I wasn’t really expecting much when they announced a Jumanji 2, but I had a good time with the latest one and this one seems to promise a lot of laughs.
9. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – December 20, 2019
Star Wars is not really my franchise, but I have enjoyed these past movies. Hoping that this film brings a satisfying close to the new trilogy.
10. Little Women – December 25, 2019
Soairse Ronan is really all you need to sell me on a movie and she looks magnificent in this trailer. Greta Gerwig is another hook for me, of course. But from the trailer, Little Women is probably in my top 5 for most anticipated to see.
What movies are you looking forward to that didn’t make the cut? I left out quite a few including Zombieland 2, Ad Astra, Marriage Story, Parasite, and Ford v Ferrari – all of which I’m very interested in seeing. Let me know down below.
