Netflix’s Mindhunter Season 2 picks up after Holden Ford’s (Johnathan Groff) panic attack, but that does not stop him though from diving back into his work. His partner Bill Tench (Holt McCanally), however, is struggling with his work and home life. Dr. Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) is struggling to be taken seriously by the unit’s new boss, but finds a new love interest to occupy her time.

The Boys Season 1 (Amazon Prime)

The Boys is a show on Amazon Prime that shatters the idealistic superhero concept that has swept the world today. It revolves around Hughie (Jack Quaid), who decides to take revenge on the superhero who killed his girlfriend. He meets Butcher (Karl Urban), who has a similar revenge plot for all superheroes, especially The Seven.

When They See Us is about the story of the Central Park Five where 5 boys (4 African-American and one Hispanic) are taken into questioning for the rape of a female jogger. The police don’t hold back and they are beaten and mistreated while in custody. The series follows these boys before their questioning and follows them through the aftermath.

What We Do in the Shadows (FX Pilot)

This version of What We Do in the Shadows takes place in New York City and centers around a new group of characters. Kayvan Novak stars as Nandor with Harvey Guillén as his servant, Guillermo. They live with the vampire couple of Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Laszlo (Matt Berry) as they attempt to prepare for the arrival of a very old vampire coming to check on them to see if they have conquered Staten Island.

Well good news to one and all, the TV series stays true in tone and spirit to the 2014 film. It’s hilarious, inventive, and has quirky characters. With creators Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi returning to help with the series, the TV pilot was a huge hit at SXSW. It was a definite highlight for me at my time there.
