If you thought Lady Bird was irresponsible then get ready for this.

Never Goin’ Back is a film about two teenage girls, Jessie and Angela, who are high school dropouts and work as waitresses. They dream about vacationing at the beach and book a trip not too far to Galveston, TX. But now they’re short on their rent money, everything keeps going wrong, and they must figure out how to get some fast cash.

This film was actually really entertaining and super wild. The two actresses, Camila Morrone and Maia Mitchell,  who play Jessie and Angela respectively, are total up and coming stars. Their friendship is the core of this film and what makes this film work. Without these actresses’ chemistry, the film would fail.

Wow. The first ten minutes of the film made me want to swear off kids for life.

Tully surrounds Charlize Theron as Marlo, who recently had her third child. She’s constantly tired and overwhelmed, especially since her son is showing symptoms for mental illness. Her and her husband don’t have a lot of money, but as a gift her rich brother offered to pay for a night nanny. Marlo finally gives and hires the night nanny, named Tully, who helps her out in more ways than one.

This film really made me realize how hard it is to be a mom. Especially if you have three children, all somewhat close in age. Charlize Theron really mastered the exhausted dead stare that I’m sure many mothers have had before. And of course, Charlize gave a great performance as Marlo, successfully balancing the pains and joys of motherhood. Mackenzie Davis as Tully gave a good performance as well as someone who reminded Marlo of her younger self. And their relationship together is pretty spectacular.

The Room (2003)

The-Room-Poster-1

As many are aware The Room is considered the best worst movie ever made. It’s a complete train wreck from start to finish. It’s a small film that many people have never heard of that somehow has gained a cult following over the years. The script, dialogue, acting, and just about everything else was terrible. I had to force myself to watch this movie because I really wanted to see James Franco’s The Disaster Artist.

Battle of the Sexes (2017)

Another movie that I saw recently was Battle of the Sexes, which I really enjoyed. It revolves around Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and Bobby Riggs ( Steve Carell). This movie is a true story of the famous Battle of Sexes tennis match that went down back in the 70s where Riggs bet King, who was the #1 woman tennis player at the time, that he could easily beat her at a game of tennis.
